Terms of Service

Last updated: 25 April 2026

Welcome to BetterBowl. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and PawChef Pty Ltd (ABN 51 694 031 064) ("we", "us", "our"), the company that operates the BetterBowl service.

These Terms apply when you use our website at betterbowl.com.au, our mobile and web applications, and any related services we provide (together, the "Service").

By using the Service or joining our waitlist, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. The Service

BetterBowl helps you plan, cook and feed homemade meals to your dog. The Service includes:

  • A library of dog-food recipes
  • Tools for personalising recipes to your dog's weight, age, breed, activity level and allergies
  • A guided cook-along, freezer tracking, and feeding logs
  • An AI-powered assistant trained on canine nutrition information
  • Other features we add from time to time

We're in private beta, which means the Service is still being developed. Features may change, be added, or be removed at any time.

2. Important — BetterBowl is not veterinary advice

BetterBowl is a planning and recipe tool. It is not a substitute for professional veterinary care, diagnosis, or treatment.

You agree that:

  • Information in the Service (including recipes, portion guidance, articles, and answers from the AI assistant) is general in nature and doesn't take into account your dog's complete medical history.
  • You will consult a qualified veterinarian before making significant changes to your dog's diet, especially if your dog has a medical condition, is pregnant or nursing, is a puppy, is elderly, or shows any sign of illness.
  • You are responsible for monitoring your dog's health and seeking professional veterinary care when needed.
  • The AI assistant provides general information based on its training. Its answers may be incomplete or incorrect, and should not be relied on as a sole source of guidance for your dog's health or nutrition.
  • Recipes in the Service are designed to align with general nutritional guidelines (such as AAFCO) where indicated, but individual dogs vary, and we cannot guarantee that any specific recipe is appropriate for your specific dog.

If your dog has an adverse reaction to any food, stop feeding it and consult a vet immediately.

3. Eligibility

To use the Service, you must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. The Service is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

4. Your account

To access most features, you'll need an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current information when you sign up
  • Keep your password secure and confidential
  • Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access to your account
  • Be responsible for activity that happens through your account

You can close your account at any time by emailing admin@betterbowl.com.au.

5. Beta program

If you're using BetterBowl during our beta period:

  • The Service is provided free of charge.
  • You acknowledge the Service is in development and may contain bugs, errors, or unexpected behaviour.
  • We may change features, alter limits, or pause access during the beta.
  • We may contact you to ask for feedback. You're not required to give feedback, but if you do, we may use that feedback to improve the Service without compensation or attribution.

When the beta ends, we'll let you know what comes next. Beta users will receive at least 30 days' notice before any paid features are introduced, and you'll never be charged without your explicit agreement.

6. Acceptable use

When using the Service, you agree not to:

  • Use the Service for anything illegal, harmful, or that violates the rights of others
  • Use the Service to feed an animal that isn't a dog (the recipes are not nutritionally complete for cats, livestock, or any other animal — and we don't want you to harm your other pets)
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract bulk data from the Service
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service or its content without our written permission
  • Misuse the AI assistant — for example, by attempting to extract its system prompts, jailbreak its safety guidelines, or use it to generate content unrelated to dog nutrition
  • Upload content that infringes anyone's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights
  • Interfere with the Service's operation, security, or other users' use of it
  • Impersonate anyone or misrepresent your identity

We can suspend or terminate your access if we reasonably believe you've breached these Terms.

7. Your content

When you add content to the Service — your dog's profile, photos, notes, feeding logs, custom recipes, and so on — you keep ownership of it.

You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use that content to operate, improve, and develop the Service. For example, we may use feeding logs to train improvements to recipe recommendations, or use anonymised aggregate data to understand how the Service is used.

We won't sell your content, and we won't use your dog's photo or your personal information for marketing without your explicit consent.

8. Our content

The Service itself — including recipes, software, designs, text, graphics, logos, and the BetterBowl name — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by Australian and international copyright, trademark, and other laws.

You may use this content as part of normal use of the Service. You may not copy, redistribute, modify, or commercially exploit it without our written permission.

You may share screenshots and recipe outputs from the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes (e.g. on social media), as long as the BetterBowl branding remains visible.

9. AI-generated content

Some content in the Service is generated by an AI assistant. We don't claim ownership of AI-generated answers given specifically to you in response to your questions — those answers are yours to use as you see fit, subject to the limits in these Terms (and the disclaimers in section 2).

The AI assistant's underlying knowledge base, prompts, and infrastructure remain our property.

10. Third-party services

The Service may link to or integrate with third-party services (for example, payment processors when paid tiers launch, or analytics providers). We're not responsible for those services. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them.

11. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) or other consumer protection laws that can't legally be excluded. Where the ACL gives you a guarantee that can't be excluded, our liability for breach of that guarantee is limited (to the extent permitted by law) to:

  • For services: re-supplying the services, or paying for them to be re-supplied
  • For goods: replacing the goods, or paying their replacement cost

12. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law (and subject to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law in section 11):

  • The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
  • We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that AI-generated content will be accurate.
  • We're not liable for any loss, injury, illness, or harm to you, your dog, or any third party that results from your use of the Service, except where that liability can't legally be excluded.
  • Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service, in any 12-month period, is limited to the greater of (a) AUD $100, or (b) the amount you've paid us in that period.
  • We're not liable for indirect, consequential, special, or incidental damages, including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption.

This section doesn't affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against any third-party claims, damages, or costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

  • Your breach of these Terms
  • Your use of the Service in a way that violates law or another person's rights
  • Content you upload to the Service

14. Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time and close your account by emailing us.

We can suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, or if we discontinue the Service. We'll give you reasonable notice where we can.

If your account is terminated, you can request a copy of your data within 30 days of termination by emailing admin@betterbowl.com.au. After 30 days, we may delete your data unless we're legally required to keep it.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll let you know — usually by email and a notice in the Service — at least 14 days before they take effect.

If you keep using the Service after changes take effect, you accept the new Terms. If you don't agree, you can stop using the Service and close your account.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia and the Commonwealth of Australia.

If we have a dispute, please contact us first at admin@betterbowl.com.au — most things can be sorted out with a conversation. If we can't resolve it that way, the courts of Western Australia have non-exclusive jurisdiction.

17. General

  • If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest of the Terms remain in effect.
  • Our failure to enforce a right doesn't waive that right.
  • These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
  • You can't transfer your rights under these Terms without our written consent. We may transfer ours, for example if our business is acquired.
